Our Approach

We are dedicated to a simple but ambitious goal: making it possible for every person to pursue health as an active, thoughtful, and self-directed part of one's life. We believe that healthcare and medicine should be grounded in freedom, voluntary exchange, and individual choice—not as a means of imposing outcomes, but as a framework within which people can pursue their own well-being according to their values.

Much of today's health policy debate begins from the premise that centralized control is the default and that departures from it must be justified. We reject that framing. A free society does not treat individual choice and productive markets as problems to be managed, but as things to be respected.

We have inherited a health system that often casts individuals in a passive role, where health is something delivered to them through complex arrangements of coverage and regulation. This is not an inevitable feature of medicine, but the result of policy choices that have distanced people from decision-making, muted price signals, and limited the range of available options. A better approach treats each person as an agent—someone capable of making decisions, learning over time, and shaping the course of their own life.

Our perspective is grounded in the idea that human beings are capable of thinking, choosing, and pursuing their values. A health system that takes this seriously will not attempt to direct people toward officially sanctioned outcomes, but will instead expand their ability to act, decide, and adapt. The goal is not to engineer uniform results, but to enable progress on terms that individuals themselves define.

This commitment to freedom is not only philosophical but practical. In every domain where individuals are free to experiment, exchange, and innovate, we see discovery, improvement, and the emergence of solutions that no central authority could have designed. Healthcare should be no exception. A system with real prices, open entry, and genuine competition creates the conditions for better services, new models of care, and continuous improvement driven by those closest to the problems.

When consumers and patients are empowered to make meaningful choices, and when clinicians and entrepreneurs are free to respond to those choices, the result is a more dynamic and responsive system. Success is determined not by compliance with centralized rules, but by the ability to meet the needs of real people. This alignment—between those seeking care and those providing it—is the foundation of a more effective and more human-centered health system.

As a public policy organization, we do not provide medical advice. Our focus is on the institutional environment in which health decisions are made: the laws, incentives, and structures that either expand or constrain human possibility. We seek to advance a vision of health policy that respects individuals as ends in themselves and supports a society in which people are free to pursue health in their own way.

We invite you to join us in building a freer, more innovative, and more genuinely human approach to health and medicine.
